Alien Neighborhood blends science fact and cartoonish whimsy to inspire imagination and inform the science learner.

This book combines rudimentary planetary science (e.g. it’s hot on Mercury), basic biology (e.g. things that live in hot places don’t have a lot of fur), and a dash of campy sci-fi movie kitsch (e.g. aliens usually have unwieldy antennae). The resultant mixture yields an assortment of scientifically informed and gloriously goofy illustrations of what our alien neighbors might look like in their natural habitats. It was written to be instructional, but, at its heart, Alien Neighborhood is a celebration of creativity, the life-blood of any scientific endeavor.
