Sir Ryan's Quest

Ryan crawls into a kitchen cupboard one morning and imagines himself an audience with the great king of pots, thus beginning a pint-sized epic of knights and dragons, wizards and warriors.

In his meeting with the king of pots, Ryan is made a knight and sent on a quest. His familiar environs suddenly change into wondrous, textured worlds inhabited by colorful creatures. A closet full of clothes becomes the jungle home of a reclusive mystic. A garage stacked with tools and bicycle parts transforms into a fortress guarded by a steely soldier. And, in the shadows of a dank basement, Sir Ryan finds the lowly lair of an old, ill-tempered dragon.

"Amusingly elevated language...an artful blend of the fantastical and familiar...a charming debut with an affectionate, reassuring ending."

--Booklist

"Imagination lives large in this debut...The dauntless Ryan’s adventure is sure to be emulated—this is the spark for an imagination bonfire."
--Kirkus

"Sir Ryan," said the king of pots, "you are a brave knight." In the cave beneath the kingdom, Sir Ryan found a musty monster that wheezed a sour smell. "Who is this knight," asked a man made of clothes who hung from the branches overhead.
